frame to jewellery display

In the shop we were trying to find a pretty display for some beautiful upcycled jewellery
I'm afraid I dont have any before or during tutorial photos but its pretty easy

I had a vintage frame in my room which was a little rough so I painted a few coats of white chalk paint on it and then let it dry
A friend let me use some of her fabric stash as this mustard colour was just perfect
So what was a battered old frame has become a super pretty jewellery display
We're super happy with the outcome
The jewellery is that of Joanne Archer of The Crow Road, these are my personal favourite ones

Forward Planning

I've set a date to relaunch my NEW website for Monday 3rd September, I'll of coure be holding a giveaway also so watch this space
Its an exciting time what with the shop and hopefully new directions for my Quirky Boots style too x

Peg Chalkboard Clips

Pegs are great note holders but I thought I'd jazz mine up a bit

I got some wooden pegs, these can be purchased at a reasonable price from most stores
I painted two or three coats of black chalkboard paint on them and left them to dry inbetween coats
Using a white chalkboard pen I doodled on them making
Stripes
 Spots & lace
and list names
Do share if you create some x

evajeanie

I am so lucky to know so many talented people in this crafting world
One of them is a personal friend who I've only known for a little over a year but she has been just amazing, she's had a stall at our market with her wonderful evajeanie makes
Not only does she create gorgeous fabric homewares but she's also a graphic designer, see my banner she did that for me, she's also done our gift shop leaflets too which i'll share once they arrive

Lindsay also designed my kit stickers which will get there preview in the next couple of weeks, I asked her if she was able to create some fun little stickers for me too and look what she came up with
I totally love them

Thank you so much Lindsay - you can read up more about evajeanie on her blog here and follow the daily happenings on facebook here

String of hearts

When I photograph my things to sell sometimes the background is just too plain, I wanted to create something plain to just hang there, so I come up with a string of hearts
So super simple to create, I just cut out tiny hearts and doubled them up and then handstitched through them all, I love them and have a feeling I'll be creating a nice vibrant very long one with my scraps of felt

I'll share my colourful one as its been created x do share if you create one too x

Exhausted

This afternoon me and the boys met up with my lovely friend and her gorgeous grandson at East Carlton Park
We had a picnic as soon as we arrived, and whilst we supped away on a mighty fine cuppa tea the boys ran off playing here and there. Once the food and tea drops had all gone we set off for a walk!
Heres the little adventure we had

The weather stayed glorious for us we were all totally exhausted when we got home, to the point the little one fell asleep on the sofa before dinner and then had to be carried to bed!
The school holidays certainly are flying by at a pace i'm not use to, maybe its because i'm working in the shop now so i'm working around those days to get things done with the boys

The Olympics has now been and gone and I throughly enjoyed what I did, I wasnt an addict for everything but I was certainly an addict for gymnastics, swimming, keirin and some of the athletics
I was totally on the edge of my seat and screaming at the tv for quite a few events but thats all part and parcel of watching isnt it
The opening and closing ceremonies were a little bit special and a tear jerker at times, I totally loved the floor design at the closing ceremony, fantastic
I've been busy this past week with sorting as always, been a shop keeper and loving it, tidying up our front garden, we now at least know how we want it to look so need to get digging! and get it brought to life a little rather than it looking  like a bit of grass and a driveway!
Busy creating lots of stock which I am now getting totally scared about not having enough to fill a stall for two days at the milton keynes event i'm booked into, luckily i'm sharing with Michelle my market partner so i'm sure we'll work the space out just fine

This week is full of shop work, picnics (indoors by the looks of the weather!) more creating, more sorting and organising our handmade market for this weekend x

rough edges!

In September I'm attending an event at Milton Keynes to sell my Quirky Boots range, its a two day event so I really need a lot of stock to take with me
I'm trying to be really good too and use up all the materials I currently have, which is a little hard going I can tell you, feels good to be using up items though that I've had plans for but never got round too using

I started sorting out my studio again yesterday and I came across the pretty russian doll fabric that i'd started to quilt, I really couldnt decide what to do them so I just put them back in the cupboard months ago
Today I had a little wave of excitement as I thought about what to create with them
Hoop Art

Now with regards to the post title, I prefer rough edges hence you can see the quilting underneath, I think there super pretty, I do hope people at the event do too x

Insecurities

We all have them about our body right!
I have so many, they've developed more so over the years after having my boys, my weight been one of them! but i'm working on that and slowly i'm making progress
I've always not really liked my legs, as they are like milk bottles as in so bright white that they can dazzle you! I dont naturally tan and i'm no sun worshipper either, so basically my legs are covered all the time

Yesterday whilst getting dressed ready to work in the shop I found a skirt that my friend had given me so I popped it on over my leggings and it felt so nice wearing it! but I kept the leggings on, I dont think it looked too bad and for the first time in ages I felt super comfortable and nice!

Yarn Bowls!

Whilst browsing I came across the new UK Handmade Magazine which is always a great read, I couldnt help but be drawn to Victorias work at Little Wren Pottery

I popped over to her Folksy store as I totally fell in love with her yarn bowls and have added quite a few to my wish list

They are just totally gorgeous arent they!
Have you seen a favourite, all of these are mine :)
