Monday 26 November 2012

Its been a while!

Now the dark nights are drawing in, its nice to sit in my corner with the lamp on, I love my corner of the living room

We had a bit of flooding in the week where our little shop is in Warkton, the brook was so high it had over spilled into the fields, was quite scary driving over that bridge!
My new dolly kit stickers have arrived from the most talented Lindsay over at Evajeanie
My lovely friend spoilt me by turning up at the shop with a black cherry hot chocolate, totally awesome
I'm currently crocheting with some totally gorgeous locally sourced alpaca yarn, I'll share more soon
We went out, yes out out, for a meal and wine and everything, its quite rare, in fact its been booked in the diary for months I'd say!
We had a gorgeous chinese meal
 with healthy after...
all in all a fab night with good friends x

Have a wonderful weekend and I'll update with lots when I get back

The end

I knew it had to come but you never really want it too!
Tonight was the first showing of Twilight breaking dawn part 2, at midnight I might ask!

It was totally totally amazing - I urge you to go see it - I know I will be again
Sigh...

Today has been about shop working and
embroidery! I totally love fun little embroideries so when I saw my friend had this stamp I stamped it with stazon onto some felt (of course) and then embroidered over it
I've decided to make a journal with all my little embroideries on, keep watching for more, as some are super quick to create

I've also wanted to have an old hardback book for ages to just doodle in, my lovely friend Lorna from dabdash gave me this gorgeous enid blyton book to play with, I cant wait to get doodling
On another note, a friend got a bunch of buttons from a local charity shop for me so I've had them soaking to give them a good clean and now they are all rinsed and ready to get dry so I can start using them
Tonight my friend has super surprised me :) will tell all later :) better have a nap before I go out though!

Book Trees

Oh dear, whilst at my woolies group yesterday, a lovely lady called Joan showed us something that was quite awesome, to the point that everyone went home and started to make them!

Book Trees!
Heres a mini tutorial to show you how to create your own

Find an old book you no longer read or mind 'folding' up
There are three steps of folding per page
Fold One - from top right corner fold over towards the middle of the book, make a good crease
Fold Two - fold again towards the middle of the book and make a good crease
Fold Three - fold the bottom triangle that is at the bottom of the book up, so it is level with the rest of the pages (this helps the tree stand)
Do this for each and every page in the book (apart from the front and back covers which you can remove at the beginning or end of the folding)
The book will fold round on itself and be quite sturdy

I've still to add some sparklies to mine so I'll share again once they are embellished

I have lots in the pipeline to make a pretty display in my porch

If you do follow along please share so I can pop along for a peek

Monday Blurb

Mondays was the woolies group day, but it was super cold in the village hall for just a few of us so I've cancelled it and rearranged it for a few of us to pop by my house, bit cosier I thought
So this morning I was of course running late after waiting 40 mins after my appointment time to see the doctor, but at least he listened to me and a scan has now been requested

But onto this morning, I carried on with a few little creatures that i'm making

We ate croissants

On another note it makes me smile lots finding Rileys new fixation all around the house - lego!

How was your day?

Lest we forget

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.
We're nearly all set for christmas in the shop, Rona and I have spent nearly 3 days moving things around, hanging baubles and putting sparkly bits here and there
We're a little excited as its our first chirstmas in the shop, so lots of giggles were had whilst decorating and lots of ideas about the future of our little shop, because yes we may be small but we can still grow within that space
This photo is thanks to one of our best customers Charlie, he always pops in with his Mum when he can to have a browse, take photos and generally purchase Keeleys monsters

Life is all about - Organising

As the title states my life feels its all about organising at the moment, trying to structure things so I get to spend more quality time with my boys and alot about re loving the things that I do

I read here about ways to simplify and I what I enjoyed reading the most was the fact that because everything job wise that I do now is creating, which at first was a hobby, means now that I need to find a new hobby, so I really love the idea of making my home, cleaning, decluttering and simplifying a new hobby.

I've also found this particular blog that had me engrossed for hours, i'm not joking, I had two cups of tea and was engrossed in all of it, what I loved about it the most is that I love organising but now I see it in a whole new light and cant wait to get a start on organising our home more, to say I am actually excited is an understatement
I urge you if anything to go take a peek its totally fab

I've already sorted out my cleaning cupboards!!!

One of the things that has been on my to-do list is to buy new batteries and a charger for my camera, which I have now done and tomorrow will be there first usage! I cant wait, I just know my photos are going to be so much better now and the camera will last a whole lot longer too!

I'll leave now with promises of fun projects on the way (now I have the camera back up and running) and some pictures of my gorgeous boys from our halloween party

Its the first year our little one has dressed up, 2 years ago he went to bed and slept through the whole party! last year he point blank refused to dress up but this year he couldnt get in his pirate outfit quick enough!

Thursday 1 November 2012

bye bye october hello november
