The season has finally started

The festive season that is!
Yesterday I finally got around to having a Costa black cherry hot chocolate with a friend
I finally feel all sparkly and ready to go
On top of that I bagged the most amazing fabric and booked myself onto a painting furniture workshop with Annie Sloan paints - not till January but super excited

Upcycling Baubles

In the shop this year I wanted to tone down the christmas decorations and make them softer
One of my ideas was taking a trug full of purple baubles (the rest were offloaded donated to a few friends)
Some pretty fabrics and elastic bands
I simply cut the fabric into squares, popped the bauble in the middle, pulled up the four corners and gathered in the rest of the edges, they were held together with an elastic band
I trimmed off the excess fabric at the top with some pinking shears, used some fishing line to hang them and they are now hanging from my shop window, they look super pretty x

These are them finished, I'll show you what I did with them very soon
One thing I will suggest, when cutting up fabric wear an apron as its getting rather messy else!

stuff!

I'm playing catch up with so much stuff at the moment! After my break away I realise how important it is to get out in the fresh air each and do a little walk at least! My plan is to walk to work as much as I can (this worries me incase my little one is poorly and if it chucks it down with rain lol)
You really cant beat that sea air though
I'm reshuffling the shop around as I feel it needs a little change and I need more wall space!
I've nearly finished decopatching Beatrice! but I ran out when to put it simply I only needed one more sheet! So her big reveal will be soon, I loved recreating her new look and hope to do another one soon
Whilst away I practised colouring my own fondant! I was a little happy with the end results and cant wait to have a go this week at decorating some cupcakes (i'm having an evening event in my shop so of course i'll be baking a lot this week)
I'm enjoying my new read to the point I dont want to put it down, although I have too as of course dinner wont cook itself and I dont want to get the pages dirty (like I did when reading Twilight! seriously did not put those books down for 4 days!)
I've had more of a clear out of crafty goodness in the form of magazines and books, and at home i'm filling the charity bag nice and quickly
This weekend has seen a big blitz at home ready for the busy week ahead and hopefully it will stay this calm and peaceful for a little while! (yeah right with boys in the house!)d

This week is a making, creating, sorting out kind of week, I cant wait to share my new studio space that I now share with my lovely friend, its super cosy in there and great to be working alongside someone creative
The new venture is nearly on the horizon, just awaiting some more news before we can shout out about it!

Thats about it, another week full of stuff! home, family, work and play x

Much needed break

with the girls
Yep last weekend was the annual long weekend away with the girl friends in my life
We all look forward to it soooo much
This year I found a gorgeous cottage in Winterton on Sea in Norfolk
I really wanted to leave with this sofa, it was super comfy and great to relax with a glass of rose

We popped out one of the days to an amazing fabric shop, I saw this quirky little shop and loved it
The church yard was quite striking too
We went for a walk towards the beach, some saw the seals but these traditional round houses caught my attention
The little touches in the cottage were so sweet, I fell in love with these night lights
All I can say is I crafted, ate and laughed lots - just what I needed x

A potting we will go...

pottery that is, certainly not gardening in this weather
I took my little one to a pottery class over the weekend as he loves getting messy and creating new things out of playdoh at the moment!
Firstly you must meet Puzzle shes beautiful and the resident cat
Riley couldnt wait to get started! so Stephanie talked to him about what he needed to do
She helped by moving the wheel and adding water to the clay
He was totally in awe of his creation
 and totally covered in clay
this picture to me is just priceless!
We have to wait a few weeks before we can collect them as they have to be fired in the kiln, I had another go as well as I've already previously gone before, I cant wait to show you what we made

Clay Doilie Decorations

I made these super pretty and charming decorations using air dry clay, vintage doilies, heart and star cutters, twine and a little bit of time (I'm a poet and I didnt know it)
I rolled out the clay to a level thickness and rollered the doilie all over it
I pressed the heart and star cutters in and tried to get as many shapes as I could out of it, using a straw I made the holes for the twine so they could hang, and then left them to dry
I chose to have white clay then once they were dry I added some twine and polka dot fabric strips to brighten them up
To add a few changes I used an alphabet stamp and added some wording on some too
Enjoy x

Shop Counter Facelift

The shop counter was in need of a little face lift I thought as some cup marks had emerged through the paintwork
It was originally wooden but stained here and there so I painted it a vintage white and because the back of the dresser had broken I put a new back on it too which was painted blue
So having some pretty floral oil cloth left over from another project (this one!) I recovered the top
Amazing how a little up do can make a huge difference
I simply used a staple gun (my new found friend, I now want to staple everything!)

Instagram Catch Up - Halloween

We didnt do a party for Halloween this year, to be honest I think we're both so tired we decided to take the break at Mums and then relax at home, we did of course join in with Halloween as its such a fun time of year
The sweets were ready
Little man couldnt wait to dress up
bigger child took some convincing! lol
We had a fun little table decor
The pumpkin lanterns were created  (now usually I can spend hours on these! but seems as Tesco delivered me the smallest pumpkins on earth! I had little choice as to what to create :( but i do like my pumpkin eating a felt pumpkin)
Our next door neighbours always do a great halloween doorway
Then off we went trick or treating
 Happy Halloween
