Muddy Boots

I have a new blog on the go Muddy Boots I'm going to be using it as an online diary for my allotment, trials and errors and of course the successes :) So if your in to growing your own pop on over and see how I get on :)
Last years tatties xxx

Neutral

Keeping it neutral for Rosies challenge this week

I kinda like this photo of Riley and I, all snuggled up.
I used all the neutral tones from the Basic Grey archaic papers and co-ordinating rub on's, cardstock and buttons were from stash.

I just love white space, I love concentrating on one area of the page rather than all of it, and considering I havent done a layout for a while I'm really pleased with how easy this one all fell together nicely - and quickly.

Bold

I used gorgeous bold colours on my Rosie Dee Challenge last week, I got them an age ago from Marieke Vermeulen's blog as a free download, I haven't really been able to use them as my printer didn't do them justice, but thanks to having purchased a superb laser printer, this is what I used my free download for.
You can purchase more of Marieke downloads from her gorgeous Etsy Store

The apples one is my current fav, and I'm intending on doing a gorgeous spring layout for a birthday present for a special little girl!

Sunday 22 March 2009

I've had a lovely weekend, sooo pleased Tel is home from working in Scotland but sad as he has to fly back up there tomorrow.
We went here there and everywhere yesterday from Pizza Hut to shopping to garden centres.
Whilst out I picked up a few items for my allotment (which is coming along great) and a couple bits of clothes which were all Mothers Day gifts, so I was very happy.

Jack woke me up at 6.30am by bouncing into the bedroom to wish me a Happy Mothers Day with a card he'd made at beavers, bless him. I had a lie in (sooo rare) but when I get the chance I never really take it, so it wasn't long till I was up and doing the normal bits of the morning.
Although a morning up the allotment certainly cleared out some cobwebs and the fresh air was fantastic - love it.
Planted all my onions today and then dug dug dug some more.
Hope your Mothers Day was a wonderful one too.
On a different note I'm not really a celebrity follower and Jade Goody wasn't really a favourite of mine, but she was a remarkable woman who has sadly died from something I'm sure all us women have worried about at some point. She was a mother too and my heart goes out to her family. Hopefully they'll be left to deal with their grief in privacy.
Just makes you want to hug your kids even more so xx
To all the Mums out there, hope you have a lovely Mothers Day :)

Paper Bowl Tutorial

I recently made a quick and simple paper bowl and thought I'd share how I did it.
All you are going to need is one sheet of 12x12 patterned paper (choose a good thick quality patterned paper so it stays quite sturdy), cropadile, string or ribbon and scoring board and tool.

Firstly cut your patterned paper to 9x9" and score 2" on all four sides Fold all score lines to where they meet Pinch the corners together and using your cropadile punch a 3/16 hole Tie the corner holes together with your chosen ribbon or string and hey presto a neat little paper bowl to hold some chocolates, pot pourri or little crafty bits.
I got the inspiration to make this from one of my crafting books.

Hamerton Zoo

We had a lovely morning at Hamerton Zoo today, couldn't believe it was only half hour away from home. They have some stunning animals there and some mighty weird ones too!
This is a Marabou Stork and they can eat small animals up to the size of a flamingo!!! Freaky looking or what!
Its a great place because its more of a breeding facility for rare and endangered animals too.
Look at this beautiful baby :) Everyone that knows me knows I adore elephants and tigers come a close second but I must admit if I had to pick a teeny tiny animal it would have to be a meerkat, aren't they just adorable, and how happy was I when I looked at today's photos and found these beauty's :) so pleased with how they turned outWe had a picnic and just some great family time in the fresh morning air :) Tel off to work in Scotland tomorrow so busy sorting all his stuff out :( x

Comic Relief

I loved watching comic relief last night about the Kilimanjaro walk and wow I don't think I could do that, so I was well impressed and I must admit tears did flow
At Jacks school today they wore red, so last night I stayed up sewing these little blighters onNow Jack doesn't really like to be different or stand out, but he was fine with me sewing these on and found it quite fun! Until taking his coat off in school got the better of him and he became quite upset, so some calming down and an excellent teacher managed to sort him out. I stayed for assembly and heard the kids sing the comic relief song which was fabby :)

I took myself off after to my allotment to see what needed to be done ready to start the season. I forgot how much I'd done getting ready for now, so much already dug and just under cover, so the ground is keeping nice and warm ;)
Still a few more weeks before I want to put anything down as there's still ground frosts about, so I'll hold off a little while longer.

Cooked a fabby dinner tonight (well I thought so and Tel actually agreed with me) so I've popped the recipe over on our weight journal blog

Have a great weekend, we've plans for the zoo tomorrow and then Tel is away for two weeks working in Scotland :( back next weekend briefly for Mothers Day though :)
Gonna miss him tons x

Sunday 8 March 2009

Great!

Had a great 'day' yesterday I didn't want the daytime to end :) the evening was a hoot too, myself and friends went to have food and catch a movie.
Food was great as always from The Park House and then after many a tear flowing of laughter we sat to watch this

Then to end the day of all good things, another 'great' happened but of a different kind! Two years I've being parking my car outside Cazz's house and last night it was broken into, I just hate the smashed glass and the fact someones done that to you, its even worse I feel because its not on a personal - I'll get you back level - its just pure chancers who think, lets see if she's got anything in her car attitude!
Now normally I never leave anything in the car but yesterday I needed the sat nav and guess what, yep, the morons took my new sat nav!
and of course it wouldn't be one of my stories without adding something else! it's not even my car, its my father in laws!!! :(

The police coming early this morning to fingerprint it, so have to make dash to Cazz's soon.
ttfn - a better day today :)

Saturday 7 March 2009

Finally

Last night I finally made a LO, I havent done one for so long, reasons unknown other than other stuff got in the way and little mojo for sticking photos to papers!
I purchased the gorgeous BG Archaic papers and I love them, I only have boys to scrap about and boys papers are few and far between I think, especially for boys as young as mine.

Riley really is a little tuff nut! Constantly on the go and wears me thin with his bundle of energy**loving the bugs rub ons :) - want more**

Jacks off to a birthday party tomorrow so I thought I'd make a quick card with the same papers

sadly Mummy didnt realise she'd left some pens out! so it looks like I'll be chucking another one of these together again ready for tomorrow!

Off to do girlie things today, coffee - food - cinema, near on a whole day off for me :)

Digi no no

I'm certainly no digi scrapper, but it is fun, I rustled this up for the banner on our weight journal blog
Think i'll be trying some more of these :)

Its done

Our first weigh in is done, check out our journey over here if anyone has any tried and tested recipes to share please do, you can email me them here we are going to add a links to all the recipes which we will be trying out.

On a crafting note I'm looking for shops that maybe interested in stocking some of my Etsy Shop items, so if anyone can help please contact me :) will be much appreciated and I'm sure if any links go ahead an ickle goodie bag would be on the way to the person who helped me :)

On another crafting note, I am selling a wooden bear die, I used this in my sizzix machine and is great for making full bodied bears, I only used this a handful of times but now no longer have the use for it. It cost me £50 but I am prepared to sell it for £35. If anyone is interested again please email me here
Thanks for popping by :)

First night

You know when you get those first night nerves, well no I havent joined an amateur dramatic society, but I dare say that would be less frightening! Tonight is the first weigh in for our weight journal blog we'll be adding tickers to our blog, I personally am going to set myself small goals so my tickers will be half a stone at a time.
So fingers crossed I dont pass out lol I may share it I may not but mostly certainly my progress will be shared.

On a crafting note, the last of the basic grey sultry cards
No other crafting done of late as I havent been feeling too good :( hopefully get back on the crafting wagon this week :)
