There has being lots of trials and lots of errors here at this household this week! I'd like to add with the hook and wool kind!
Yesterday a few lightbulbs went off in me head and ta-da I actually today finished a crochet item, from start to finish :)
** little teaser of some double crochet - hehehe**
I cant tell you what it is yet until my friend recieves it! for her nod of approval and then they will be available in a new shop of mine, again, I'll reveal details of that very soon :) Hopefully very exciting so fingers crossed I get lots of orders :)

Phew

We had some awesome thunder and lightening last night, came from no where, was fabby until I had to go out in it to pick Jack up from beavers! eek
Had a refreshing walk into town today after what seemed like a dire day yesterday with behaviour! so needed lots of fresh air to start the day.
Got a new trough planter for my carrots up the allotment, then realised I had to walk home with that! and some other planty bits and bobs..
better update very soon, the girls are around tomorrow for a scrap night :) so hopefully the wine will flow and giggles all round :) xx

RD Challenge

Rosie and I were talking about marmite, whether you love it or hate it, I personally LOVE it :)
So then we got talking about our 'marmite' of the crafting world, and peel off's came to mind... why dont you pop on over to check the challenge out for yourself

Ummm

Its days like yesterday that kinda put you off sitting at craft fairs :(
I've done a couple of craft fairs this year and done really well, made my table money back and added extra on top :) but yesterday sadly I didnt.

It was a brilliant turned out event, apart from a local councillor who found a poster board racist and offensive, and wanted it turned around out of view of people, now I have to say that this particular guy is white and british and a liberal democrat!!!!!! It was a white poster that looked like this

but the writing on it stated bits like 'St George, pride, british and faith' and its the 'faith' part he found offensive! I just dont get it, what is our country coming to when we cant even celebrate OUR history!
Anyway enough moaning, we did turn the board back round :) and had a great turnout, but sadly I just didnt sell much stock - oh well... we win some we lose some.Would like to get some new matching basket for stock so will keep look out for shabby chic looking ones :)

Steaming

Thats what my feet were doing after the amount of walking I've done today! I'm quite certain I did a week's quota before 10am!
I trundled off to the allotment this morning and weeded and weeded and dug and built and dug some more...
My gorgeous tulips are in full bloom
I've a busy weekend, out tomorrow evening with friends to say a HUGE thank you for giving us our lubbly summer house and a craft fair on Sunday at Delapre Abbey in Northampton, so if your local pop on in.
Right off to venture to the back door again, will open the door slower this time as for some strange reason Apollo (one of the moggies) keeps running in with 'sausages' from somewhere!!! Very odd...

Great Day

We had a great day out at the country park, Wicket loved having a run around and was so well behaved, he's defo got the fetch and bring back stick down to a tee :)

Its amazing the amount of times we go there and still get to find new pretty nooks and crannysRiley had a great time and was totally worn out, I think we've got a climber on our hands for sureThe old playground is hardly played on now, such a shameOn the way home we always drive through some beautiful villages and today decided to stop off and take some pictures, this gorgeous church is in Grafton and I couldnt believe how beautiful this window wasand look how clear that sky isThats all for now :) x Hope you had a lovely St Georges Day

Ashes

Well, what a beautiful day we've had here in sunny northamptonshire :) Its being glorious, the garden has being given the chance to be spritzed a little more, the boys enjoyed running around causing havoc! joined by Wicket... whilst the bunnies roamed around munching on the grass. Kitties were upstairs asleep getting all their energy reserved for their night time prowl, hopefully no more 'half mice' to wake up to!
My honey is on nights again but I'm okay cause this started its second series tonight

Ashes to Ashes and I love it, groovy 80s tunes with a coooooool car - me love me cars :)

I'm starting a new business venture and fingers crossed it will pay off! So have being busy crafting with yummy wool felt and embroidery threads for days to get lots of samples together. I also have a craft fair on Sunday so busy fingers getting sorted for that.

Sprung!

I've done a major spring clean today, in one room only! lol but by golly it feels wonderful :)
I am gutted though, today I went to get my 4th book from the 'House of Night Series' and Waterstones dont stock it and wont stock it until August as they are having a dispute with the American company that deliver them :( so my search online will continue :)
I also fear something may be happening in the garden!
Have a chilling weekend x

Five Fav Friday

Today I've decided to share some blogs and people, these are ones that I stalk, lol, or have come across and felt touched and inspired.

Katie Memorial Foundation - a brave and courageous woman who constantly helped others and sadly lost her life in her prime, read her story here
You can also help by donating a handcrafted item to the linked Etsy store, I've contacted them with my offer :)

Alicia Paulson - Whilst on the search for crochet patterns online, I firstly came across this gorgeous pattern and then her blog, and wow she is one talented lady who has a super gorgeous craft space and I love how she does a mix of things.
I always worry that maybe I like too many different crafts, but people like Alicia have made me feel right about it :)

Kirsty Wiseman - This woman makes me choke with laughter! Her humour is something else and so is her crafting, I love her style muchly! lol
She's a bit of a twitterer... but a kind, honest and lovely person who does wonders as a crafter, a mother and a wife :) Wubs ya Kirst!
Ps her new Patti Picklicious CD is awesome, you can buy it here, see how talented :)

Allsorts - This blog is amazing and full of so much colour and crafting inspiration, some great mini free tutorials day to day living :)

Elsie - Now I will admit that it took me a while to warm to Elsie, I found her papers difficult to work with at first but then I found my niche with them keeping my pages simple, which in turn made me love layouts with lots of white space :)I think I like her so much now as I know deep down I would just love to be as quirky as her :)
She's just opened her own bricks and mortar shop and from what I can gather her new RVA Store is going down a treat too :)

Thats it from me, hope I've given you some new places to visit x

Marked!

Hmmmm after I read the Twilight series of books there was no way that any other series of books was gonna come close to that, like not even within an inch!
Then I started reading the 'House of Night' series by P.C and Kristin Cast. I've read 'Marked' and 'Betrayed' and I'm currently on book 3 'Chosen' and I have to say this is the best book so far :)
I would like to add further that it is a VERY different take on the vampire world! and I love it..
Apart from Zoey my fav character is Loren Blake! Come tell me different if you dare lol
So if you enjoyed Twilight, I'd try reading this one too.
On a very different note, my lovely new blog came courtesy of Debs Crafts and there all freebies :) and gorgeous, great eh.
Another grey day here weather wise, although for fresh air me and the boys are walking to town after some tuna pasta salad stocked up in our tummies
I have a great fiv fav for tomorrow, well I think so, so please come back and see.

On Friday Tel started on the base for the Summer house and thats where it stopped due to rain, this was the corner of the garden before!and I'll show you what they managed to do whilst being rained on another time.
Our budget this year is going on our garden :) I love a great garden area and since living here we've spent all our time on the home and now its the gardens turn :)
My lovely friend Stefanie is a gardener so I'll be employing her when it comes to planting shrubs etc as I havent got a clue lol

Its rained all weekend here, hopefully today it may brighten up just a little - please
The only spring feeling we have is this
and my beautiful puddy Louie by the herb pot :)

Funky

Two lots of funky to show you, first off one of my new needle books in my Etsy Store, we shall name this beauty Fuschiaand Wicket had his hair cut the other week and I forgot to show you it! Its rather funky! Bless him, I must admit I didnt recognise him when I collected him, lol, bit too short for our liking but he seems much better, hehehe
Our summer house is now up, a few more jobs needs doing to it but very exciting as one corner of the garden is finally taking shape. A huge car boot sale and hopefully that will be enough money for the main lawn and patio area :)

not so bird book!

Over at Indigo Mill they sell some gorgeous kits and another great idea is that they sell just the patterned papers from the kit on their own.
Steph kindly gave me this bird chipboard book and I used the laundry line papers to cover them.
I'm going to do one of these books each for my cats.
This one is for Louie :) My beautiful grey tabby cat.

Pop on over to Indigo Mill to see whats in store, you will not be disappointed

Tuesday 7 April 2009

Etsy Update

I have added new crafty goodness to my Etsy Shop a brilliant bright and funky new range of felt goodies, added so far are pin cushions and ipod covers. My next update will be very soon of felt needle books, key rings and more of the above.

Happy Tuesday :)

Monday 6 April 2009

fun fun fun

The weekend was full of fun fun fun :)
Rosie and I trotted off to meet up with the girls Marie, Steph, Clare and Elaine for a weekend of Indigo Mill crafting and laughter.
After the photos Rosie took I dread to think what the design team photos look like!!

Marie was a 'wicked' (as in great) hostess, running around after our every whim! lol and we well and truly 'christened' her new crafting room! which is ace...
Lots of laughter although I truly have to admit a rather bit too much on my part, I really must learn to think it thru first and then speak after!!! lol

We got so much done between us ready for Steph to show ideas at her fabulous retreats that she does.
Here's some peeks at my creations, and once I get them back I'll show you them in their full glory.

I also started to paint a mini canvas but ran out of time so will finish that at home, I'm going to use that as a Quirky Boots sign for my craft room (when it finally happens) **huge big cheesy grin to man of house**

Still have much sleep to catch up on after having a very late night and very early rise! lol

New Etsy updates to show next time :)

Friday 3 April 2009

busy busy busy

So busy today, I've been up the allotment (muddy boots has been updated with photos) picked Riley up from nursery and he's not feeling very well, he's got an upset tummy bless him.
I'm taking my Etsy goodies to a ladies night in Rothwell tonight so hopefully will have some sales :)
and then tomorrow I'm off to Kings Lynn for the girlie get together and have a ton of things to remember to take with me!

Jack breaks up for easter holidays today, so making a scarecrow for the alloment is top of the boys crafty list and hopefully weather permitting some trips to the parks, and then hopefully a trip to Nannys for a few days.

So I hope your weekend is packed full of fun and I'll update when I get back.

Who'd have thought

not me thats for sure
Yesterday was Jack's parents evening, he's doing really well and is at the stage of learning of where he should be in Year 2.

But and theres a big but! Back at the end of reception and the beginning of Year 1, I was still majorly concerned with his reading, he just didnt get it! Then from the middle of Year 1, the school brought in Read Write Inc and well... it was a gift sent from the heavens because Jack just thrived on it, he became a free reader well before Christmas and is now top of his class, she explained its not just because he can read well, its because he understands the comprehension, and if asked a question about whats just been read, he can answer it.

So Momma was full of smiles and even more cuddles than usual when I heard that.

Its nice also that the teacher said its obvious that we do things at home with him, because she can tell and it helps so much with his understanding.

Again one proud Momma and Papa and baby brother here :)

I mean he's still cute now but look at him back in reception - awwww - I cried for THREE days when he started school

Normality

Yes we're back to the daily grind of everyday living.
We had a lovely relaxing weekend away which is what it was all about, we popped out and visited Ross-on-wye and a local craft barn, a fantastic resaurant, but other than that we chilled, I havent slept so much in so long it was great.

We stayed at Middletown Farm in Upleadon, Gloucestershire.
Our cottage was called Orchard Barn the grounds and private garden area were fantasticthe farm cat came to say hello and he curled up whilst I read my book out in the sunshine (which kinda freaked me out a little considering I was reading about a soft ginger cat in my book!)The local church in Newent was lovelyI would recommend Judy's warm welcome and cottage stays to anyone and everyone, a free bottle of wine from the local vineyard awaited us :)

Lots of crafting finishing touches been made for my ladies night craft fair on Friday evening and then I am away again on Saturday at Stephs mums (from Indigo Mill) as a design team get together to craft our ickle hearts away - cant wait.

More later x
